Now here is my recipe version

It says can serve 4-6 people, but in my opinion it can serve more than 10.

Ingredients

1/2 cup of unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup of flour
1 1/4 cup of semolina
1 1/2 cup of grated coconut
3/4 cup of milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon of rose water * recipe calls for vanilla extract but I used rose water
Almonds or nuts for decoration

For the syrup
1/2 cup of sugar
2/3 cup of water
* recipes calls for 1 Tablespoon lemon juice, but it was to strong, I used rose water in the basbousa.

1. Preheated oven to 350F. Melt butter in a pan, add all dry ingredients together and mix well. Make sure your pan is large enough for all ingredients. Just mix well, it should be like a thick cake paste. Pour into your baking pan and flatten. Cook for 30-35 minutes, or till golden brown.
2. For the syrup add the water to a separate pan and heat, then add the sugar, bring to a boil and simmer keep stirring for about 6-8 minutes. It should became a thick syrup after having some time to cool down. Pour this on the top of your finished Basbousa.
3. Cut and serve. ENJOY!!
